Work, Inc. ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our app streaming platform ("Work" or the "Platform").

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, username, and password.
  • Profile Information: Optional information you provide such as display name, bio, and profile picture.
  • Payment Information: When you subscribe, we collect billing information through our payment processor (Stripe). We do not store full credit card numbers.
  • Runner Information: If you apply to be a Runner, we collect additional information such as portfolio links, professional background, and payout details.
  • Communications: When you contact us, we collect the content of your messages and any information you provide.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage Data: We collect information about how you use the Platform, including Constructs you stream, features you use, and time spent on the Platform.
  • Device Information: Browser type, operating system, device identifiers, and screen resolution.
  • Log Data: IP address, access times, pages viewed, and referring URLs.
  • Cookies: We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain sessions, remember preferences, and analyze usage. See Section 7 for more details.

2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

Construct User Data: Constructs run client-side in your browser. Data you enter into Constructs (such as expense entries, notes, or tasks) is stored locally in your browser's storage (localStorage) and is never transmitted to our servers. We cannot access, view, or recover this data.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Platform
  • Process transactions and send related information
  • Send technical notices, updates, and support messages
  • Respond to your comments, questions, and requests
  • Monitor and analyze usage patterns and trends
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent or unauthorized activity
  • Personalize your experience and provide relevant content
  • Calculate and distribute Runner earnings
  • Comply with legal obligations

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following circumstances:

4.1 Service Providers

We share information with third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf, including:

  • Supabase (database and authentication)
  • Stripe (payment processing)
  • Vercel (hosting and analytics)
  • Email service providers (transactional emails)

4.2 Public Information

Runner profiles, including display names and published Constructs, are publicly visible. Construct stream counts are displayed publicly as aggregate statistics.

4.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or government request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Work, our users, or others.

4.4 Business Transfers

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. We may retain certain information after account deletion for:

  • Compliance with legal obligations
  • Resolution of disputes
  • Enforcement of agreements
  • Fraud prevention

Runner earnings records are retained for a minimum of 7 years for tax compliance purposes.

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, secure authentication, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

  • Essential Cookies: Required for the Platform to function (authentication, security, preferences).
  • Analytics Cookies: Help us understand how users interact with the Platform (page views, features used).

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may affect Platform functionality.

8. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

Your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for international transfers, including Standard Contractual Clauses where required.

The Platform is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us.
